Is Tapbit legit? What we could verify (2026)
Tapbit is an operating crypto exchange offering spot and futures trading. It publishes terms of use, a list of restricted countries, a proof-of-reserves page with a third-party audit report, and a fee schedule. It does not serve users in a number of countries, including the United States, France and India.
This is a fact check from Tapbit’s official pages, checked on October 6, 2026 with links to each source. It is not a user-experience review.
Short answer
Tapbit publishes more checkable material than many smaller exchanges: an audit report from Hacken, documented security controls and a clear list of restricted countries. The audit report it links is dated October 31, 2024 and covered BTC and ETH only, and its regulation page describes a US registration while the current restrictions list excludes the United States. Treat it like other offshore derivatives exchanges: check that your country is allowed, keep only trading funds there, and test a small withdrawal first.
What we checked
Who operates Tapbit
The website carries a Tapbit LLC copyright notice, and the Terms of Use refer to the service as Tapbit Exchange. Its regulation page says Tapbit is registered as a Money Services Business (MSB) with the US Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) and is applying for state money transmitter licences.

What an MSB registration means
FinCEN says it does not approve or endorse any business that has registered as an MSB, and that a listing alone is no reason to trust a company. The registration brings anti-money-laundering duties. It is not a licence for derivatives trading, and it is not deposit insurance.

Countries where Tapbit is not available
The Location Restrictions page lists: United States, France, Austria, Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Romania, Greece, Norway, Svalbard & Jan Mayen, Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Azerbaijan, China, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Thailand, Myanmar (Burma), North Korea, Iran, Iraq, Oman, Yemen, Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Western Sahara, Chad, Côte d’Ivoire, Nigeria, Uganda, Cuba, Ecuador, Uruguay. Some corporate accounts are restricted in Antigua and Barbuda and Bermuda, and partial restrictions may apply in Hong Kong. The regulation page mentions operating in some US states, but the current restrictions list excludes the United States.

Proof of reserves and the Hacken audit
Tapbit says it keeps at least a 1:1 reserve of user funds. The audit report linked from its proof-of-reserves page was prepared by Hacken, dated October 31, 2024, and covered BTC and ETH: Hacken checked the list of user balances and confirmed control of the wallets with test transactions. The page also shows a USDT ratio that is not part of that report. We found no newer report linked on the page.

Insurance fund vs deposit insurance
The proof-of-reserves page advertises a 50 million USDT insurance fund. That is a fund the exchange runs: the Terms of Use state that assets in your account are not eligible for any public or private deposit insurance.

Account security and withdrawals
Tapbit supports two-factor authentication with Google Authenticator or SMS, email verification, a separate PIN and cross-device withdrawal verification. Accounts without completed identity verification have a lower daily withdrawal limit than verified accounts.

Fees
At the base tier, futures cost 0.02% maker and 0.06% taker, and spot 0.1% / 0.1%, per the official fee schedule we checked on September 23, 2026.
What we could not verify
- Tapbit’s current status in FinCEN’s MSB registrant search. You can check it yourself at msb.fincen.gov.
- Whether a newer proof-of-reserves audit exists than the one dated October 31, 2024, and the USDT figure shown on the page.
- The insurance fund’s current balance and its claim rules.
If you decide to use it
- Check the list above for your country of residence first.
- Turn on two-factor authentication and the withdrawal PIN before your first deposit.
- Send a small test withdrawal before you move larger amounts.
- Keep only the funds you are actively trading on the exchange.
- Leveraged futures can lose money fast. Size positions so that a liquidation would not be a disaster.
Tapbit review: FAQ
Is Tapbit legit?
Tapbit is an operating exchange that publishes terms of use, a restricted-country list and a Hacken proof-of-reserves report (dated October 31, 2024, BTC and ETH). It says it is registered as an MSB with FinCEN, which FinCEN itself says is not an endorsement. We treat it as an offshore derivatives exchange: usable if your country is allowed, with only trading funds kept on it.
Is Tapbit safe?
No centralized exchange is risk-free. Tapbit offers two-factor authentication, a withdrawal PIN, cross-device withdrawal checks and a third-party reserves audit, though the linked audit is dated October 31, 2024. Its 50 million USDT insurance fund is run by the exchange; the terms say account assets have no deposit insurance.
Is Tapbit available in the US or France?
No. Its Location Restrictions page lists the United States and France among the restricted countries above.
Is Tapbit regulated?
Tapbit says it is registered as a Money Services Business with FinCEN. That registration carries anti-money-laundering duties, but FinCEN does not approve or endorse registered businesses, and it is not a licence for derivatives trading.
Can I withdraw from Tapbit without KYC?
Yes, within a lower daily limit than verified accounts, according to Tapbit. Check the current limit on its withdrawal page.
